Your gift today will help families navigate childhood cancer
“Mira gets to go to the hospital, and she gets all these cool things that I don’t.” — Titus.
By cool things, Titus meant his sister’s ambulance ride and radiation mask.
At age six, Titus didn’t understand that his big sister Mira was fighting for her life, enduring invasive medical procedures, MRIs, emergency brain surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation. All he knows is that Mira and Mom are spending way too much time at the hospital, and he’s not invited.
When a child is diagnosed with cancer it affects the whole family. Siblings of children with cancer experience their own journey of cancer. They experience feelings of loneliness, confusion, and even anger and resentment, for being left out. Our new PLUS (Practical Learning for Undiagnosed Siblings) program was designed with siblings like Titus in mind. Working with our child life specialist, kids like Titus explore their feelings and learn healthy coping strategies to better navigate their family's cancer experience and beyond.
Keeping the whole family strong and healthy during a child's cancer journey is vital. That's why our year-round programs are designed for the whole family. Your donations help keep the family unit healthy and resilient. Thank YOU!

Your Impact
With your financial support, Kids Cancer Care is able to provide essential programs designed to meet the needs of the whole family at each stage in the child's cancer journey — from diagnosis through treatment and beyond. With your continuing support, we have been actively adapting programs to serve kids and families during the pandemic when they are more isolated than ever.
Your gift today is helping to:
- Give kids with cancer the support they need to cope with the physical, emotional and cognitive effects of cancer and its treatments;
- Provide children with cancer-related learning issues the benefit of a one-to-one tutor online or in their home;
- Keep children with cancer active through evidence-based therapeutic exercise that helps reduce the long-term side-effects and deconditioning effects of cancer and its treatments;
- Give kids a chance to escape the rigours of cancer for a week of outdoor fun and adventure at camp; and
- Support research into less invasive therapies that save lives without causing damaging health problems for life.
We believe it is possible to change the course of childhood cancer in our lifetime. Thank you for helping make this a reality.
The Kids Cancer Care Foundation of Alberta plans to raise approximately $7,100,000 this year from philanthropic individuals, organizations, and grantors. Raising these funds will cost the organization an estimated $1,900,000. All monies raised will be used for board-approved programs and projects that benefit the families we serve.
