Kids Cancer Care’s year-round outreach programs help young people and their parents escape the demands of cancer. Our outreach programs provide a healing and supportive community, where families can build friendships and access resources needed to navigate the cancer journey and beyond.

PEER Program

The PEER Program is a research-based exercise program designed by pediatric cancer specialists from the University of Calgary and Alberta Children's Hospital to help parents and health care professionals use exercise to help ease the long-term impact of cancer and its treatments on children. PEER helps all age groups rebuild their strength, balance, flexibility and endurance, while counteracting the after effects of cancer.

Teen Leadership Program

The Teen Leadership Program gives teens affected by cancer a chance to move beyond their cancer experience, by giving back to local and international communities through volunteer and philanthropic activities. The program culminates in a service trip to a community in need, where teens help build homes for low-income families.

Child Life

Group and one-to-one child life sessions with our certified child life specialist are designed to offer ideas for coping and the opportunity to share resources and discover new strategies to help kids in isolation navigate their health care journey, while connecting with each other.

Special Family Events

Our outreach programs include special family events such as Mother’s Day Brunch, Family Ski Day, parent programs such as our Dragon Boat Parent Team, recurring Teen Night programs and regular sports, recreational and arts activities.
